Daniel Clive"Dan" Wheldon was a IndyCar Series driver from england. He had piloted the No. 4 National Guard Dallara-Honda for Panther Racing. In 2005, Wheldon won both the series championship and its most prominent race, the Indianapolis 500, for Andretti Green Racing.

Wheldon made his IndyCar Series debut in 2002 for Panther Racing, driving the #15 Pennzoil Dallara-Chevrolet at Chicagoland and the second Texas race. Wheldon finished 10th and 15th, respectively, and scored a total of 35 points. This left him 36th overall in the series' standings.
2003

In 2003 Wheldon drove for Andretti Green Racing. He missed the first 2 races. His best finish in 2003 was a 3rd at the season ending Texas race.
2004

In 2004 he again drove for AGR. He won his first race at Motegi and followed this up with another 2 victoies later in the year. He finished 2nd overall in the championship, betteed only by his teammate Tony Kanaan

After a 2008 season in which Wheldon's achievements paled in comparison to championship-winning teammate Scott Dixon, Wheldon left the Ganassi team after the regular-season finale at Chicagoland. He rejoined Panther at Surfers Paradise, replacing Vitor Meira in the No. 4.
Death

Dan Wheldon died October 16, 2011 in a fatal 15 car crash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race would be canceled.
