Luczo Dragon Racing was founded in 2007 by Stephen J. Luczo and Jay Penske. It was intended as a satellite operation to Team Penske, whose principal owner Roger Penske is Penske's father. The team has prepared an Indianapolis 500 entry each year since its inception.

Car #12 History

The #12 car is the only car Luczo Dragon Racing has ever campaigned in the IndyCar Series. It has only had one sponsor, Symantec, since its inception.
2007Edit
The team debuted at the 2007 Indianapolis 500 with driver Ryan Briscoe. Its #12 Dallara-Honda was prepared by Team Penske, and painted in tribute to the Pennzoil-sponsored Penske vehicles driven in the 1980s by Rick Mears. The car carried sponsorship from Symantec's Norton 360 brand. Briscoe had an impressive month of May, qualifying 7th (only slightly off the paces of Penske pole-winner Hélio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr.) and finishing 5th in the rain-shortened race. Briscoe's performance earned him the second seat at Penske for 2008, as Hornish moved onto NASCAR.
2008Edit
For 2008, the team announced it would replace Briscoe with former series regular Tomas Scheckter. The team announced its intention to compete in three 2008 races: those at Kansas, Indianapolis, and Infineon. Scheckter only completed 96 of the scheduled 200 laps at Kansas, retiring with handling issues to finish 23rd.
2009Edit
The team has announced its intent to run a full schedule in 2009 with Raphael Matos, the 2008 Indy Lights champion.
